About
In conclusion...
There are many factors to a zoo elephant's short lifespan, and it's not entirely possible to pin it on just one. Everything contributes. An elephant's zoo life is miserable. They do not have enough family and friends to interact with. They don't have enough space to move, forage, and overall be a normal elephant. They get so many feet and joint issues through improper footing that they struggle to move later in life. And finally, they are depressed. Zoos deprive elephants of the mental, social, and physical stimuli that an intelligent creature needs, reducing their lives to half what they should be.
“We think animal and human are different and some people not even believe animal have feeling or emotional. Look at their eyes. They want to be freedom like us.”
- Lek Chailert
